Last week and the beginning of this week we have been working on our powerpoints. I did pretty well being that the 12 rules of DTP was very confusing. Well anyways we worked at toufee or what ever it is called. that was pretty awesome besides the fact that i had to restart over and over again because it would not save it right. I have learned how to work at toufee (yesterday). And I have learned to pute notes about the Power Point at the bottom of the page. Mrs. B told us. I never knew you could do that.

Week of Nov. 6-10

We finished our powerpoints and now all we have to work on is our audio. We are also supposed to work on a project, and I happen to be focusing on working on the "art of photography".

10/11-31/06

The first rule at DTP explains that putting two spaces after a period or punctution, is not necessary. The rule said that putting two spaces after punctuation is "distracting" or "unttractive". In my opinion, I don't really think it matters, or atleast on your own time. If it comes down to it technically and whatever you are writing about spacifically says, "please type all of your punctuation correctly" or even if it ever sais, "two spaces after punctuation isn't necassary", then apparently you shouldn't. I don't have a problem with this and it isn't a habit for me.

The second rule explains that you shouldn't use "double-hard returns" after a paragraph. I guess it is just like the "two spaces after puncuation" rule. Maybe they think that IT also isn't necassary or attractive. I don't have a problem with this either.

The third rule explains that you should not use alot of different font sizes. Well you can, but only if you have to or have a good reason to. I guess this is because when you do use alot of different font sizes, the readablity is not very good.

The fourth rule explains that both fully justified text and left-aligned text is wrong. What is right all depends on the size of your layout, the font sizes, and all the margins are put together.

The fifth rule talks about how using center text is innappropriate, all depending on how the layout is.

The sixth rule explains that when you lines of type, do use it appropriately.

The seventh rule tells you that you should't use all caps, because in most cases it is considered yelling. Mrs. B has explained this to us many times.

The eighth rule sais that you should definately use as good as possible punctuation. It makes your document look proffesional and understandable.

Rule nine explains that using boxes or borders make your document also look professional.

Rule ten sais that you should't use a lot of clip art because it blocks out all the *important* information. They would just be focused on those fun and big pictures of clip art.

Rule eleven explains that white space is a beautiful thing. It is less confusing, and easy to read and understand.

Rule twelve tells that for well designed documents, default settings are unnecassary.

I personally think that these rules are *not* very important. Actually, not at all. No offense, but i think that the person that came up with these rules is rediculously picky. I mean half of the rules on there are things I have never even heard of. I mean, come on, who is going to worry about the spaces after a period? Well i dont know about you, but i do know that this is *way* to picky and not very understandable either.

So... the dance was *great*! I had a great time and I enjoyed taking pictures.. we took alot of great shots of people at the dance. We were really organized. Here is some things i thought about it:
I think we altogether did a really good job. Some things i didnt really agree with or like the fact of it being:
The Student Council members were complaining about us being there early like they were... they were complaining about "us being in their way" and you know.. just stuff to gripe about. I think the backdrop for the single shots was not very creative. I think we should be just a little bit more creative and we should make a little bit more time to do a big backdrop like that next time.
Some things I did like:
I loved taking pictures. It was fun and everything was really organized about it... the disks, the camera, pretty much everything. Although I didnt really like the backdrop, I liked how it was set up and organized. like the projector projecting things on the wall... that was neat.
*and*.... I finally exported my logos. Well I exported one. It was messing up when suddenly the bell rang, so Mrs. B did the other one. so im relieved that I have that done. I left early yesterday, due to the issues about the volleyball game. Its only Tuesday, so i don't have alot to write about, but i will be back on maybe Friday.

This week was a great week. We got a lot done, even though we umm sort of got “rained out”, such as the backdrop for the Fall Ball photos, and we got a camera for me and Williams “live shots” for the Fall Ball also. We also got the posters about the Fall Ball posted on walls about the pictures. We also “exported” our ATA logos and *our* logos to Wikispace. Which I have not done that because I was absent for a day or two, so I get a little bit more time. Tonight is the Fall Ball and I cant wait to see all the progress our ATA class has put forth.

From reading the discussion, I learned where Dr. Nate got his “nickname, Phaedrus”. A few other things I learned are what Dr. Nate does; and I learned what a good way to make a power point is. I think it is a good way, also. I wish someone or me would have asked him what his favorite website was, and why. I was not there when we “met” him, but I wish someone had asked him. I also learned how you know when a politician is lying.

Well this week we learned about the useage of whitespace. Good examples, Bad examples. like Google and Ask are good whitespace. Yahoo and Wikipedia is NOT good examples of whitespace.

9-26-06

Well We learned about why powerpoint is "evil". well not really evil, just how people use it is evil. like alot of people use it wrong and do un intelligant things on it, where it doesnt look right and isnt attractive. Nates five rules explain why.

9-12-06

Well the article of school of the future is really ineresting. If i was a doctor or a tech apps major and got transported from a long time ago to now, i would be completely lost and mess up alot of things.
